A WORKSHOP ON OBJECT WORK
What if I told you that what we actually do in improv is harness & direct energy? What if I told you that you can manifest your thoughts into becoming physical reality? What if I told you that the objects & environments you want to create on stage are already there? These are the things I'm going to tell you & invite you to explore in this workshop. Jose Gonzalez [he/him/él] co-founded Arizona’s first nonprofit improv theater, The Torch Theatre, in 2007 and was deeply involved there as a performer, teacher, and producer through 2021. For over two decades, he has taught and performed in numerous festivals and events with groups like Galapagos, VerizonQwest, and Loretta Ocelot, all across North America and parts of Europe including the Chicago Improv Festival, the Del Close Marathon (UCBT-NY), Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (Austin, Texas), the Twin Cities Improv Fest, Improv Fest Ireland, the Toronto International Improv Festival, and Improvaganza (Honolulu, Hawaii) among many others. In addition to performing regularly around Phoenix at the Bridge Improv Theater, NCT Phoenix, and Second Beat Improv Theater, Jose is also the swing host for The Moth StorySLAM Phoenix, a co-host of the Sweet Podtato podcast, and he runs Monster Improv, which is his own little DIY record label but for improv shows and classes.

THE COMPLETE SCENE:
FIVE POINT SCENIC STRUCTURE
In this workshop, students focus on learning and utilizing a simple structure to create a complete scene with a fulfilling beginning, middle, and end. The structure helps guide the improviser's choices while allowing plenty of space to play with emotion, character, point of view, and heightened comic action to manifest dynamic relationship scenes.

THE MEISNER TECHNIQUE
If you are an improviser who feels stuck in your head instead of being-in-the-moment, this workshop is for you! In this workshop we will use The Meisner Technique, including The Repetition Exercise and living truthfully under heightened Imaginary Circumstances to enhance your improvisational skills. Improvisation growth comes through getting-out-of-your-head and comfort zone.

COACHED IMPROV JAM
Oh hey! What a fun and funky way to get reps with some guidance!
This jam is open to all experience levels and each jam will have a coach and a theme to focus on.
Get on stage with a randomly drawn group of fellow jammers and receive conducive and supportive coaching.
